The Department strives to improve the economic climate of Los Angeles through the provision of financing, technical assistance, training, business tax incentives, and workforce programs. These services help local businesses grow, provide living wage jobs for L.A. workers, as well as high quality goods and services to under-served communities.
Business Response Unit
EWDD’s Business Response Unit (BRU) specializes in providing aid to entrepreneurs who are navigating through the bureaucracy of LA City’s business related departments. This service helps people needing assistance to become legally compliant or requiring City resources to conduct business. The BRU can supply specific contacts throughout various City departments as well as guide individuals and businesses to the appropriate agencies. BRU is a one-stop for business owners to obtain contacts and information across City departments on programs and services geared toward the business community.
The Los Angeles BusinessSource Centers provide startup ventures and current small business owners various cost effective tools to help their businesses grow and remain competitive within the City of Los Angeles. Most services are provided at NO COST to business owners and resident entrepreneurs within the City of Los Angeles.
The EWDD Rapid Response Team is trained to support your employees and your business through any transition process. They help to inform your workers, supply unemployment and insurance forms, and assist outgoing employees with career searches.
