Para Los Niños staff helping youth participants with financial aid applications for college
The Para Los Niños YouthSource held a Cash for College event and hosted a Young Civic Leaders Program presentation this October.

On October 12, 2018, approximately 37 PLN YouthSource participants received support in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

PLN’s efforts helped students secure more than $200,000 in Pell Grant funding for college. The students will receive their full financial aid awards once they select the college they be attending.

On October 19, 2018, Para Los Niños YouthSource participants attended a presentation by the Young Civic Leaders Program, a leadership development program created by United Way of Greater Los Angeles for LAUSD high school students. These students will be participating in advocacy training along with leadership development.

Additional activities will include financial education, assistance with the college application process and support with scholarship applications. PLN high school seniors attend sessions at the YouthSource center at least once a week.

All participants have received support in completing their financial aid applications and will be completing their college applications by the November 30th deadline.
