Equity in the Workplace
EWDD General Manager Carolyn Hull was recently a panelist for a “Women in the Workforce” event at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. The event was part of the chambers’ ACCESS L.A. Program, which connects local city and county policymakers and business leaders to address key policies and challenges.
Carolyn highlighted how EWDD has supported women in the workplace through job training programs that lead to higher paying jobs. She added that EWDD has administered programs to assist working mothers with child care expenses, including the recent City of LA Child Care Provider grant, which provided $11M in grants to more than 700 licensed childcare providers, ultimately assisting 10,000 children in the City.
In her closing remarks, Carolyn encouraged business owners to view EWDD as a resource to connect with qualified employees trained for jobs in the 21st century.
“I really hope that as we go forward, our department can work with all the employers in the room to help you prepare your staff and your workers for jobs and occupations of the future, to help you solve some of your business problems, whether it be equity, funding. Reach out to us and we can work with you as a partner to diversify our workplace.”Carolyn Hull, EWDD General Manager
