Jan Perry, General Manager of the Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department from 2013 through 2018
When Angelenos ask “What is the mission of the Economic and Workforce Development Department?” my answer is three key words – Jobs, Youth, and Business.

EWDD is an interconnected system of 14 YouthSource, 16 WorkSource Centers and nine BusinessSource Centers. Strategically located in LA’s underserved neighborhoods, this network of centers provides a wealth of resources designed to give Angelenos – youth, job seekers and entrepreneurs – an opportunity for success.

Through this system, EWDD has provided the platform to implement and execute Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Executive Orders and key initiatives by administering programs that invest in LA’s most valuable resources – its people.

As EWDD celebrates its five-year anniversary, we share with you the EWDD 2013-2018 Five Year Re-Cap, which includes success stories featuring youth, job seekers and business owners both big and small.

We invite you to read about EWDD’s programs and the Angelenos who found a second chance to return to school, receive training for a better job or get the loan they needed to make their business dreams come true.

I would also like to thank our City family for your partnership in working with EWDD’s WorkSource Centers to provide jobs through the HIRE LA’s Youth and Targeted Local Hire Programs.

I am proud of all that EWDD has accomplished during my more than five-year tenure as General Manager and I am certain that the department will continue to soar.

Jan Perry
